SESAC 2011 Country and Americana Music Awards

Monday night, SESAC honored its songwriters and publishers at the Pinnacle Tower. For the first time in two decades, this awards show was not held on Music Row, but instead 21 stories up in the Nashville sky with some of the best talent in Nashville in attendance.
Craig Campbell kicked off the 2011 SESAC Nashville awards with his single, "Fish". Monday night was all about the songwriters and publishers. SESAC once again honored Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum. She helped write three of her group's hits, and the Sara Evans smash, "A Little Bit Stronger." The SESAC song of the year is "Tomorrow" performed by Murfreesboro native, Chris Young. SESAC writer Anthony Smith took home honors for that song. Blaine Larsen wore a SESAC medallion for his work on George Strait's single, "I Gotta Get to You". He says the award is more than an honor.
"It's a very important night. The artist rely on songs and only so many of them get recorded, and only so many of them are hits. So to be one of the few writers to have a hit song is very special," said SESAC writer Blaine Larsen.
