Kelly Clarkson Raises Awareness For Charity In Nashville Along With $400,000
Kelly Clarkson was an incredibly entertaining hostess for the Miracle on Broadway benefit concert Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena, something that she hopes is just the beginning to an annual show and a benchmark for giving in Nashville. An idea that came to her while sitting in traffic just under 90 days ago, she managed to pull off one of the best Christmas concerts of 2014. Guest artists included Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn, Charles Esten, Meghan Trainor, Kacey Musgraves, Martina McBride and Paramore's Hayley Williams and Reba McEntire.
Proceeds from Saturday night's concert by end of the show totaled $200,000 which was raised through tickets, merchandise and a text-to-donate option at the show. Trisha Yearwood came on stage after the announcement and whispered in Kelly's ear that the figure would be matched by Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, bringing it to $400,000! The proceeds will go to benefit The Fruition Fund, which was established by Clarkson through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. From there, the money will be distributed to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, Monroe Harding Children's Home, Second Harvest Food Bank and Thistle Farms.
