The Readyville Mill (5418 Murfreesboro Rd Readyville, Tennessee 37149) complex consists of five restored buildings: Mill, Granary, Icehouse, Miller’s Cabin, and the Smokehouse.
The Mill, a continuing restoration in progress, is the machine that converts gravity driven water into mechanical power for doing work: grinding grain, sawing lumber, generating electricity. The Mill is being restored to once again do these things and it is available to visitors who are interested in what a 19th Century mill is and how it works.
Back when the Mill was operational, the Granary and the Icehouse were where the products of the mill were stored. Today the fully air-conditioned and heated Granary accommodates 75 for family style dining while the open space of the adjoining Icehouse is ideal for gathering, dancing and socializing.
With a parlor, sleeping loft, kitchen, and bath (with shower), the Miller’s Cabin is the perfect place for a bride and her entourage to dress and prepare themselves for a magical moment: a wedding at the Readyville Mill.
Nestled in the hills of Middle Tennessee, Readyville Mill was once a thriving Gristmill, driving innovation and economics for the surrounding countryside. The mill has provided the people of Cannon County with corn and flour from the grist mill, lumber from a sawmill, ice, spirits, and even generated the first electricity for the village of Readyville.
Once again the Readyville Mill stands to bring joy to the community, but this time as a place to celebrate! The Mill buildings have been given new life and the newly renovated spaces are prepared to host your special occasion. The Mill has played host to weddings, business luncheons & meetings, reunions of all types, and a variety of celebrations. We’ve even had a Senator or two drop by.
