Local Pediatric Surgery Teams from Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital, LeBonheur Children’s Hospital-Hamilton Eye Institute and the Nashville Dental Team served with The Shalom Foundation this year. Pharmacy students from Belmont College of Pharmacy and community leaders including Mayor of Franklin, Dr. Ken Moore, Gordon Inman, Nelson Shields and Tim Pagliara also visited the Moore Pediatric Center with Shalom’s founder, Steve Moore, in recent months. All have participated in Hymns, Hams & Jams.
“We welcome others to serve with us and support our efforts,” said Moore. “Without the participation of volunteers, we cannot fulfill our mission.”
Local volunteers and teams from across the country have provided funding and direct care for thousands of children already this year. Doctors and nurses have completed hundreds of surgical procedures changing the lives of those children, their families and themselves as well.
“Our nutrition and education programs provide direct support to combat devastating malnutrition and to keep at-risk children in school until graduation,” said Moore. “These programs impact our children and families here and there,” said Dr. Ken Moore. Dr. Moore serves as Medical Director and vice president of the board of directors for The Shalom Foundation.
